Polycarbonates are thermoplastic polymers. Thermoplastic means a polymer that turns to a liquid when heated and freezes to a glassy state when cooled. Due to these attributes it makes thermoplastics easy to manipulate, work, mould and thermoformed. Polycarbonates do not have a unique plastic identification code and are identified as “Other”.
Polycarbonates are durable and have high impact resistance though are prone to scratches leading to many polycarbonates having coatings applied to prevent this depending on their use. Polycarbonate has a glass transition temperature of about 150 °C.
Polycarbonate glazing can have several advantages over glass such as its high impact resistance, its weight is generally half as much as glass. It also provides good acoustical insulation, weather and UV resistant. Other properties of polycarbonate glazing include its high clarity and light transmission and wide service temperature range. LIV supplies offers polycarbonate glazing between 2mm-12mm thickness cut to the size you need between 2050mm width and 3050mm length. Ideal for; skylights, safety glazing (perfect for schools and public buildings), protective shields for machines.
The founders of the company have been involved in the plastics industry for many years and subsequently have gained a lot of knowledge and experience of it (including polycarbonate glazing). We are not a large corporate business, and we aim to provide a top quality service to our customers in a friendly manner.
LIV Supplies started off in a small office with a tiny storage space before moving to a warehouse space to enable us to have on hand enough stock to supply the local trade. We have then had to move to an even bigger space, moving to a great retail premises location near some of our competitors and ASDA.
